Not everyone can hike the Appalachian Trail. However, if you want to enjoy just a small part of the 2200-mile trail, stay at the midpoint of this legendary trail that meanders through 14 states. It's hard to choose just one, but Bullards Beach State Park offers plenty for the RVer. There are more than 100 complete hookup sites, yurts for rent, toilets and showers with cisterns, and flush stations.
Access to the trail runs right next to the park to the small town of Bandon. These peaks of more than 14,000 feet offer a challenge for anyone who wants to improve their level of hiking. The Buena Vista KOA is located near six of these peaks (the highest is Mount Harvard, at 14,423 feet) and has 46 sites for motorhomes, glamping teepees and a coffee shop. Made famous by movies and books, the Pacific Crest Trail is not an easily accessible trail just off the main road. You may have to walk or drive to the start of a trail to see parts of this 2,650-mile-long trail.
It's good that the La Wis Wis Campground in Washington is just a short drive from the White Pass section of the trail. This camp has more than 100 sites surrounded by centuries-old forests. The campground is also close to Mount Rainier National Park and its hundreds of miles of trails. The Rancho Sedona RV Park is about a five-minute drive or 20-minute walk from the trailhead.
The RV park also has about 80 sites, outdoor games, and quick access to nearby Oak Creek and downtown Sedona. The Pinhoti Trail extends 171 miles through Alabama and parts of Georgia. It is said to be a warm-up trail for people who want to take a longer walk. However, no matter what part you discover, you'll be surrounded by wilderness.
The Coleman Lake area has a Pinhoti Trail and a campground with 39 electrical sites, ADA-accessible sites, and a 21-acre lake. There are several panoramic tours and hikes to experience. Visitors can also find horseback riding trails and opportunities to explore nearby attractions. Trails climb from campgrounds to the immense granite domes of Yosemite, while Joshua trees attract attention in the eastern deserts.

Some disadvantages of these campgrounds are that these trails can be very popular and finding a campsite near them can be a bit more difficult. This isn't as important for experienced hikers, but if you're new to the great outdoors, always bring a friend along for safety. Guests enter the campground just one mile from Lake Manzanita and can choose to stay in a tent or a rented cabin.
